Every year at Florida State University for Homecoming week, students are full of excitement for all of the events that take place on or near campus prior to the big football game that upcoming weekend! With Florida State University’s homecoming week being an important tradition to both the FSU and Tallahassee community, students are able to get the best out of the experience. Plus who doesn’t love free and inexpensive entertainment?

As the week comes to a close with its festivities there is still plenty of time for you, your family, and friends to enjoy all FSU has to offer as you help the FSU community celebrate years of tradition and lots of fun. Since so many events are taking place this week I’ve narrowed down my pick for the top five homecoming events that students will enjoy in order to get the best out of their homecoming experience!

Warchant

One of the best experiences about homecoming is being able to go see your favorite musician or artist as they visit your campus to perform a concert. That’s exactly what “Warchant” is, as this year’s performance on October 12 features Chance the Rapper along with Francis and the Lights.

Not only is the show inexpensive for both the public and students, but according to their website tuckerciviccenter.com, “An FSU Student I.D is required for admission with a discounted FSU student ticket.”

As you and your friends enjoy the bright lights, and good music with lots of energy you can also remember the event as the best homecoming experience!

Parade

One of my favorite events for homecoming is being able to take my family to see Florida State University’s “Homecoming Parade!” Full of magnificent floats, colorful banners, and loud music, this parade is the heart of homecoming week here at FSU.

According to their website homecoming.fsu.edu, “some of the past Parade entries have included the Marching Chiefs, the Flying High Circus, the Golden Girls, and members of the Seminole Tribe.”

People from all over come to partake in the Seminole family’s’ joyous celebration. On October 14, you, your family and friends can take lots of pictures or buy a souvenir from one of the vendors to remember the fun occasion!

Pow Wow

A wonderful tradition here at Florida State University is the same day as the parade and the night before the football game, as students get the opportunity to see their favorite comedian’s perform live at FSU’s “Pow Wow!”

According to homecoming.fsu.edu, this year’s guest’s for a hilarious experience is, “Whitney Cummings with special guests the World Champion Judah Friedlander, and Nicole Byer… The event is free for FSU students with valid gold FSUID,” and tickets are available for the public as well.

So if you and your friends wish to experience all homecoming week has to offer, go check out these incredible comedic acts.

Tailgate

Homecoming week is not the same without being able to prepare and experience the pre-kickoff before the big football game as you get to tailgate, but not just any tailgate, it’s “Jimbo’s True Seminole Tailgate” right on the heart of FSU’s campus.

According to their website homecoming.fsu.edu, “The Homecoming Tailgate will take place 2 hours before the Florida State Seminoles take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on October 15, 2016.”

By spending time cooking delicious foods on the grill, drinking your favorite beverage, and talking about football, you can get even more excited as you wait for the team to take the field.

Football Game

Everyone knows that the best part about homecoming week at Florida State University, is being able to experience a football game on homecoming weekend! That’s right! What better way to end homecoming week then watching our football team in “FSU vs. Wake Forest.” As they dominate the field against Wake Forest!

According to seminoles.com, the game will take place right here in “Tallahassee on Saturday, Oct 15 at 3:30 p.m.”
So if you’re ready to show your school spirit and join the Seminole community in cheering on our fellow ‘Nole’s to victory. Then make sure you check out the football game and help support our team!
